Professionalism. Integrity. Compassion.
The Putnam Police Department was established in 1896. For over 120 years, it has been our commitment to protect and serve Putnam, CT through partnership with all our citizens, visitors and merchants as we aim to understand and serve the needs of the public, maintaining a safe and friendly community.
Our mission is ‘to police our community with professionalism, integrity and compassion, working in harmony with our citizens to maintain a quality of life that promotes safe and secure streets and neighborhoods’. We are deeply committed to this – and as such, members of the department are held to the highest of standards. We maintain the approachability of a small-town department where officers are known by name, while at the same time keeping pace with technology and procedures which are equal to a large city department.
Featured Officer - Detective Donna Brown
Detective Donna Brown has accepted the Conquering Kilimanjaro challenge to help raise funds in support of the Special Olympics Connecticut. She will be participating with a team of brother officers in climbing to the summit in February 2020, planting the Special Olympics of Connecticut (SOCT) flag to demonstrate support of the mission of awareness of Special Olympic athletes and their families.
The Putnam Police Department and Detective Brown greatly appreciate the communities support in rising to this challenge. Donations can be made online by visiting https://give.classy.org/PutnamPD2Kili or at one of the upcoming fundraising events.
