ABOUT US

Professionalism. Integrity. Compassion.

The Putnam Police Department was established in 1896. For over 120 years, it has been our commitment to protect and serve Putnam, CT through partnership with all our citizens, visitors and merchants as we aim to understand and serve the needs of the public, maintaining a safe and friendly community.

Our mission is ‘to police our community with professionalism, integrity and compassion, working in harmony with our citizens to maintain a quality of life that promotes safe and secure streets and neighborhoods’. We are deeply committed to this – and as such, members of the department are held to the highest of standards. We maintain the approachability of a small-town department where officers are known by name, while at the same time keeping pace with technology and procedures which are equal to a large city department.
